Ophelia Xerri

Occupational Therapist

My role as an occupational therapist is to understand what interests, motivations, and strengths the people we support have, understand what they can access in their environment (social and physical) and either reduce risk / increase or maintain function in their meaningful activities of daily living.

Alongside a person-centred therapeutic rapport and communication with all supporting, I use the process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation to outcome results and evidence base to offer best practice occupational therapy.

Qualifications

  • BA in English Literature
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational therapy
  • Sensory integration and yoga training
  • 200-hour Ashtanga yoga training

Expertise

I am an occupational therapist, yoga teacher, and musician, and I am certified in sensory integration with yoga training. I am experienced working in settings such as neuropsychiatric rehab, learning disabilities, mental health and with neurodivergent people of all ages.

Right now, I am setting up a brand-new occupational therapy service for CCG and I am learning about the company and working with the therapies team to develop an occupational therapy integration plan. This will help to develop a holistic understanding of the needs of the people we support as well as the care providers.

Also, I am establishing and implementing essential tools and processes for occupational therapy in Catalyst and learning about the providers and the people we support.
