I’m Jodee, and I am an HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
I worked in the NHS since I qualified in 2015 before coming to Catalyst in 2023. My experience includes learning disabilities, complex swallowing needs, as well as the general population living in the community, acute or mental health hospital settings.
I aim to provide neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed care, which puts the person and their support network at the centre of our care. Therapy might include supporting people to understand and fully participate in the world around them and express their views meaningfully using their preferred communication style to promote self-awareness, autonomy, and self-advocacy. This might involve working directly with an individual or coaching / training their support network and family to meet their communication, sensory or swallowing needs.
I am autistic and have lived experience of trauma and mental health, which means that I am often able to connect with people in non-traditional ways and am not affected by the stigma of mental health. Families often report how validated they feel when working with me and that I can find innovative and intuitive ways to connect with all sorts of communicators, even when speech is minimal or absent.
