What does it mean to live a life of your choosing?
This profound question sets the tone as we introduce Rylee, an inspiring 18-year-old whose journey reflects the essence of person-centred care. “I get the life I want, not what you guys want.” he confidently states – a simple yet profound reminder of how crucial it is to prioritise his choices.
From the bond he shares with his carer, Anold, to his favourite activities like swimming, watching planes, doing schoolwork and laminating, Rylee’s days are filled with meaning and joy. With the support of the therapy team, he has reduced incidents significantly, from daily to perhaps once a week, and enjoyed an incident-free visit to his mother on her 50th birthday.
Coming from a state of residual trauma following a hospitalisation, Rylee now thrives in a home that enables him to grow, enjoy his hobbies, and work towards fulfilling his aspirations. His remarkable progress in just three months it’s a reminder of why we do what we do.
As Rylee decorated his tree and looked forward to festive traditions, watch the video and become part of a journey that turns small steps into extraordinary moments.
